Spring has sprung up some thoughts...

The cold winter air does not want to leave, but I am eager to move onto the next season. Even though there is a figid chill in the morning air, which sometimes lingers throughout the day in the shade, my ears still hear the birds chirping. My eyes still catch some green popping out along the roadside. And the neighbors are planting fields of corn and alfalfa.

So I felt the need to bring in a sure sign of spring to my home. Believe me I browsed around and tried to think of ways I could dig deep into my creative mind to weave myself a spring flower arrangement...but all my ideas clashed. Probably because my brain has been taken over by so many other projects. So I thought of my dear friend who has started her own floral business. I know she is very creative and what better way to promote her wonderful craft...on my front door for everyone to see.

I think it so lovely to be able to tell a creative mind simple facts and they whip together a product so amazing. When I sent her my request for a spring wreath, she asked me exactly what I've been asking myself...what do you have in mind? what colors? what flowers? I cut straight to the bud (lol) and explained that I had no idea what I wanted, just wanted a beautiful spring wreath. So I looked at the door and walls that would surround the wreath. My entry wall is painted a very light sage green, the door is white (i've been wanting to paint it) and the fixtures are silver. I knew that I wanted some branches mixed in there so I added that as well. Then I left the rest to her imagination. After a couple of days later she done. So we met up in a nearby town for lunch. As soon as I saw the wreath I was so excited....it was made for our home and I loved it. Who knew you could get so excited about a wreath..ha!

So we caught up with each other on our busy lives, we chatted about the wreath and then we kept talking and talking, the waitress kept refilling our ice teas and we kept laughing. I think we expected to be there for an hour lunch but two hours snuck up on us and we had to cut short our conversation.

Aren't you recharged after having a great conversation? My mind was expanding into so many different ideas we talked about, we dreamed about, we wanted. To think, I woke up that morning so overwhelmed with my to do list of important tasks to complete for my family, home, business and extras...that it actually took me a few minutes to disconnect and allow my brain to relax, eat, enjoy lunch and visit with my friend, Karen. When I left and made my way home, I was so pleased. As soon as I got home I hung the wreath on my front door and started taking pictures of it. Then I posted them on Karen's Facebook page for the world to see. When my daughter came home from school I rushed to the front door to witness her first reaction. Her eyes said it all. I love her excitement. She touched every piece of the wreath with her little hands and then spotted out the tiny bird perched on the branches. She patted the tiny bird's head with her fingertip and I already suspected this would be her fun ritual each time she came home from school.
